Small & Medium Injection Mold Capabilities
A precise map of what we build well — sizes, structures, gating, cavity counts, materials — so overseas buyers know before they send drawings whether their project is a fit.
Types of Injection Molds
Single-shot molds
1-cavity or low-cavity tools for engineering evaluation, low-volume production and specialty parts.
Small & medium production molds
Cold or hot runner tools for parts under ~450 × 320 mm, tuned for stable multi-week production runs.
Prototype molds
Bridge tools for design validation before committing to a production tool — usually P20 or aluminum inserts.
Mold inserts & spare parts
Core / cavity inserts, wear parts and spare ejector components made to fit into existing mold bases.
Mold repair & modification
Weld-and-recut repairs, insert changes, cavity additions and gating changes for tools already in the field.
Sub-assembly tooling
Companion tools for related parts in the same assembly, planned together for fitment and finish consistency.
Mold Structures & Actions
Runner & gate systems
- Cold runner molds
- Hot runner molds (partner-supplied hot systems)
- Side gate
- Submarine (tunnel) gate
- Pin-point gate
- Direct / sprue gate for prototype tools
Actions & complex geometry
- Slider actions
- Lifter mechanisms
- Core pulling
- Angled ejector pins
- Metal insert loading
- Threaded core assemblies (manual unscrewing)
How Many Cavities We Recommend
Cavity count is a design choice, not a marketing number. For most overseas projects we recommend 1–8 cavities — that's where the tooling workshop is most stable and cost-effective. For small precision parts, higher cavity counts are possible after a technical review.
| Cavity range | Where it fits |
|---|---|
| 1 cavity | Prototype tools, larger parts, engineering samples, molds where cycle time matters less than tuning. |
| 1 + 1 (family) | Matching left/right parts, assemblies where two parts must be tooled together for fitment. |
| 2 – 8 cavities | Typical range for stable medium-volume production of small and medium parts. |
| Up to 48 cavities | Available for small precision parts after technical review — feasibility, gating balance and cooling checked before we quote. |
Our recommendation: 1–8 cavities typical; up to 48 cavities for small precision parts after review.
Materials We Regularly Tool For

- ABS
- PP
- PE (HDPE / LDPE)
- PS / HIPS
- PVC (rigid)
Engineering & optical
- PC and PC+ABS
- PA6, PA66 (with or without glass fill)
- POM (acetal)
- PMMA and PC for optical parts
- PETG, PET
- Overmolding of TPE / TPU on rigid substrates (in cooperation with the injection partner running production)
Steels commonly used: P20 / 1.2311 for prototype and mid-life tools, 718H / 2738 for pre-hardened production tools, S136 / 2083 for high-polish and optical cavities, H13 / 1.2344 for high-wear areas. Steel selection is agreed before mold design starts.
